Just curious.....THe University of Virginia just offered a current sophomore quarterback out here in my neck of the woods....The Great Northwest (suburbs) 1. Do we offer sophomores? 2. If Virginia offered would think he qualifies academically for NU as well ?????? 3. They arranged for the kid to throw just for U of V at the high school. Is this also normal?

1) On rare occasions, yes. Matt Alviti for his offer before his sophomore year.

2) Not necessarily. UVA's football team has virtually no academic restrictions aside from NCAA minimums, like most highly-ranked state schools.

3) Yes and no. College coaches aren't allowed to formally request or run workouts for high schoolers, but workouts often just "happen" to occur when college coaches are on campus to make an athletic evaluation.
