    Unless he has been promised a scholarship or doesn't need a scholarship due to financial aid/need, there's no harm in testing the waters. Would force NU's hand and maybe a Vanderbilt or Stanford might offer him as their new coaching staffs try to fill their rosters.

    Also, what they do with Blake Smith and a potential scholarship has to be a factor. If I were him, I'd hop in the portal unless he knows he's getting a full ride either from the NU Athletic Department or the Financial Aid Office.
