    There ARE a couple of positives. Marty is healthy enough to play, at least part of the time, and looked good. And the defense was marginally acceptable other than on Minnesota's one TD drive. Compared to where things were in the UNL game, I'll take it.

    The win is great, but I think for many of us, it's more of a relief than something to celebrate. Relief as in NU isn't likely to join ESPN's Bottom 10 in the near future. The season as a whole remains a disaster. Duke looked like Alabama against the NU defense, but just lost 48-0 to Virginia...

    Perhaps, but it’s their jobs as journalists to ask those questions. If they don’t, they’re basically affirming that they’re as useless as Fitz might imply.

    I think that now it’s all the more important for them to show up so they can challenge him. Ask him point blank whether he regrets the hire and then follow up with asking whether he thinks his stubbornness is hurting the program. Given the circumstances, they should consider nothing less.

    So a true fan has to accept every coaching decision unconditionally, even a disastrous DC hire? Seems to me that a fan should applaud the coach for his positives—and Fitz has many—but hold him accountable for the negatives.

    This thread is one of the better examples of NU fans acting like North Koreans debating the intricacies of Fed policy. Entertaining in a Three Stooges / Beavis and Butthead sort of way.
