    Give Collins an extension

I thought NU had a reasonable chance to make the Tourney prior to the Seeason. Will the Cats go 500 or better in the second half of the season; it’s a very tough schedule.

Firings: What should happen vs. what will happen

B10 teams should have the revenue to poach big time coordinators from the ACC, B12 or P12. NU needs to play the NIL game or get left behind. Brilliant facilities only go so far with high school stars and transfers. Also, Fitz should not have a working headset during the games; he’s a disaster...

Northwestern in Driver’s Seat for Big Ten West Title Again!

NU will beat the Badgers this week. UW is demoralized and ripe for picking; win the TO battle and the Cats go to 2 and 1 in Conference.

The reality is Fitz should not be King of Northwestern football

I posted this on the Illinois site. I’ve had NU season tickets since 1994: I’ve been an NU season ticket holder for over 25 years (since Fitz, I root against them). He reminds me of Zook when it comes to game management; Zook would still be our Coach if someone had disconnected his headset. Fitz...

Plus / Minus numbers for the Illinois game

Buie’s meaningless and uncontested 3 at the buzzer slightly skew the metrics.

We have the talent, but not the killer instinct

Let’s use the Illini starting 5 for comparison purposes. Would Williams and Grandison be starters on any B10 team? Frazier and Kofi definitely, but Plummer was not a projected starter on this team. I think much what determines who plays is chemistry and culture. Talent isn’t always a predictor...

We have the talent, but not the killer instinct

Nance, Buie, Audige, Young, and Berry would play significant roles or start for 10 B10 teams.

We have the talent, but not the killer instinct

Buie has the ball skills and guts to be dangerous in late game situations. Use Nance as the screener and one of them is going to get an open look. If teams overhelp; you have shooters who can knock down shots. I’m an Illinois alum, and longtime NU season holder in both major sports. Your talent...

    Billy McKinney

Back in the late 1970’s, Billy was playing in an outdoor 4 on 4 summer league at Devonshire Park in Skokie. At the time I was 5’9” 155 pounds and fairly quick. After guarding Billy for the first third of the game or so, he was getting annoyed with my defense. He then proceeded to make a move...

Second-half thread for NU vs. Illinois

I thought Chris coached a terrific game last night. His in game defensive adjustments were effective in limiting Kofi and Ayo For much of the game. NU needs an athletic/strong big, but the complimentary pieces are there for another tournament bid next year.

    Game thoughts

Illini fan and NU season ticket holder here; this is what I posted on the Illinois Board. My post generated a very positive discussion on this year’s Wildcats: Today at 6:29 AM Add bookmark #42 NU is a tournament level team; their guards are athletic. I wish we had Kopp, kid’s a terrific...
