NU weighs in at #37 in the way-too-early-to-be-meaningful Sagarin ratings, just behind #35 Duke and ahead of BYU (!), Cal and UNL. Stanford is at 26. Once teams play several games his rating system is pretty good.

Currently Sagarin has us as the second best team in the B10 West although there is no significant difference between us, Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota.

we are back to the old "we can win every game on the schedule or lose every (FBS) game on the schedule." I find that somehow comforting.

I like the Sagarin ratings and want to track them week-by-week this year to determine our chances of winning each game.

Going into last week's games, the preseason ratings predicted a 4-8 season (that assumes 2.65 points for home-field advantage and the Illinois game is neutral).

After just one week of play, and granted the ratings are funky early on, we're now predicted to go 7-4 the rest of the way (with the one win in the bag already, that's quite a dramatic turnaround). That also assumes a loss to Michigan I believe, where the 2.65 HFA gives them about a half-point victory.
