I just got off the phone with new Northwestern graduate transfer Trey Klock. Here are a few notes before I write the story:

- He is getting a degree in Sports Administration from NU, so it's not Kellogg (surprise!).

- He chose NU over Temple, the only other school he visited.

- He played guard early in his career at Tech but was a tackle the last two years. It hasn't been determined yet where he'll play for NU but he is open to playing either position.

- He was a QB until his sophomore year of HS, when he got too big to play the position. He is the only non-QB in the family: His brother is the QB at DII Millersville, his dad was a QB at Shippensburg (and Trey's HS coach), and his uncle was a QB for the Eagles (Tom Kirchhoff, who played at Lafayette).

- He won't graduate from Tech until late July, so he won't be in Evanston until just before camp starts.

- NU didn't actively recruit him out of HS because he was a 250-pound tight end and "didn't fit the superback position." Heffner visited his school and talked to him but it didn't go much further than that.

- He saw NU's campus last summer when he was on a leadership retreat with Uplifting Athletes. He also met Tommy Doles there.

- He was also interested in NU because of long snapper Trevor Stroebel, who was also a GT grad transfer who played for NU this season.

- He didn't want to talk about the reasons for leaving Tech, but he is on good terms with the Jackets coaching staff.
