Home from the game and here are some of my takeaways

* The Ranger IPA at Bluestone pretty much kicks ass as a pre game beverage;
* Surprised by some of the comments in the first half thread...thought the effort on D was pretty good throughout....the long hand of scottie was omnipresent;
* Olah is focused. If he's this focused all year he'll at least be second team all conference. Completely dialed into the job at hand;
* Scottie did not seem focused 100 percent of the time. Yes on D, not as much on O.
* B Mac is just terrific and more effective on D this year;
* Tap lost his man a couple times on D but all around solid game;
* Sanjay needs the officiating that happens in conference...not this early season crap. A little to lackadaisical with the ball on O;
* Haven't had a player like Falzon. Period. Been following NU basketball since the 70's. Ain't just the shooting fellas. Kid knows basketball and he looks as tall as Skelly;
* Demps has to give up the ball. It'll find you again Tre....give it up after three dribbles and no progress. Guys are open. They got to be open if three defenders are guarding you;
* Biggest thing....team has developed a bond. Clearly they are very close;
* Oh, as an after game beverage you can't do better than the Ranger IPA at Bluestone unless maybe you add a shot of Jameson to it.

Bubble team.

* Thank goodness someone woke up BMac. I was wondering whether he wasn't as aggressive and wasn't looking for his hot as much with the additional talent around him. However, CC was openly prodding him to take more shots.

In the second half, I think we saw the effects of him turning it back on. The offense was far more crisp.

* Talk to me after a few games, but so far, I agree with Medill: BMac is on his way to being a more effective defender

* Having said all that, I really hope Nash can somehow give them just 3-4 minutes per half at some point. BMac and Demps are going to need it.

I don't expect, but I can hope for it, right?

* I never thought the Cats defense was going to be stunning, but I think we saw tonight this is the area where the loss of Law is REALLY going to hurt.

* If you haven't seen the Cats play, wait until you see JVZ at the line. Ewwwww!! After watching him shoot free throws, I feel safe in saying we won't be seeing JZV down the stretch of any close games.

* Taphorn had a really nice game.

I didn't realize Jeremy had eligibility left! He'd be a welcome addition!

It's not going to be good for our defense if our big men (Olah and JVZ) continue to bite on every single shot fake. Keep your feet on the ground! Other players were also occasionally guilty of over-pursuing on defense.
