A Photo Look Back to our 2005 Basanez led win over Iowa at Ryan Field

As we attempt to repeat history Saturday with yet another home field win over Iowa -------

Here are a few of the photos I took that were included in GoUPurple's HailtoPurple.com 2005 feature regarding Basanz's leading the Wildcats to a one point win over Iowa with Joel Howells making the game winning PAT:

One of my favorite wins. Watching the Iowa defense on the sidelines cutting up, with one player saluting an Iowa fan in the stands, then seeing Baz lead two very late TD drives to snatch the game away was priceless.

Also one of my all-time favorite games I've seen at Ryan Field...I remember it was cold and rainy...my friends wanted to leave but they all respect that I stay to the end even it looks hopeless. I remember I had some Iowa friends in the car on their way home when they heard the outcome.

Actually, the guy doing the saluting was Adam Shada. He reenacted his salute to the crowd on the sidelines.

Greenway was the guy who tried to spear Baz and got penalized. Iowa fans went ballistic claiming Greenway would never cheap shot a player, but he clearly tried to spear Baz in that play.

Iowa too a lot of cheap shots on Baz in that game. Look at all the chippy play and shots to the head and neck after the whistle by Iowa players just before the half. Baz is a pretty tough guy, yet even he spoke out about all the cheap shots by Iowa players. Again, Iowa fans went ballistic but if you watched the film it was clear that Baz received a lot of cheap shots that day. I lost some respect for Iowa and their fans that day.
