Adam Cushing to Duke

With his 3-26 record during his three year tenure he was probably fearful that he’d be fired after the ‘22 season. He jumped ship early to have a guaranteed contract for a few years past next season.

A defensive move for, as he said in his statement, the well being of his family.

If we get beaten on the line with cushing coaching them, then we have truly hit rock bottom.
Honestly, if I got decent odds, I'd take a wager that we will go 0-12. I haven't felt that way in a long time, but I see no possibility for improvement except Porter returning, and our G5/FCS opponents are pretty good, better than OU and ISU. Now, it might all be moot if we found out we really DID have linebackers on the bench that can play football and really DO have a kicker on the bench that can make a field goal, and so on, but, if you presume that the coaches let the best players play and a lot of them are gone...I have less hope than I've had for 30 years.

I'm not here to be your or anyone's cheerleader, but Northwestern Football is literally the only reason I even know the phrase "belief without evidence."

To date, Fitz's yo-yo pattern has always come back up after going down. Granted there were those two middling 5-7 seasons but I recall that included a win over ND in South Bend. If Fitz wants to deliver us a win over Ohio State next season but head into that game with a losing record...so be it.

Just saying...despite the absence of any evidence to the contrary, all hope should not be lost.
