Recruiting continues to be the Achilles heel of this program. Despite the posters here who want to continually believe success is just the next firing away, we continue to bring in classes in the lowest third of the Big Ten, and expect these coaches to turn them into champions. Something is seriously, seriously off. How this program can have historically low production from the QB and WR positions, and yet sign a class with zero of each is utterly unfathomable. Yes, Atkinson was unexpected. Yes, ARY was unexpected. But unexpected things happen to all classes, coaches turn over at all programs. Whether it's our recruiting philosophy, our over confidence in our assessments, some type of morality we preach and cling to that puts us at an even greater disadvantage, or promises to kids to not recruit their position further if they commit, I really don't know. But at this point our last QB recruit signed was Whittaker in the 2018 class, who doesn't even want to be a quarterback anymore. Atkinson this year. Millen last year. We are unprepared to handle the setbacks all programs face and it is seriously, seriously hurting the present and future of this program.
