It seems like it has been longer, but Anthony played 4 seasons for Chris Collins at Northwestern, beginning in the fall of 2017. He played 19 minutes per game as a freshman and served as team captain his last two seasons in Evanston. After earning his degree, he transferred to Siena, which was closer to his hometown. For Siena he played about 34 minutes per game, again as team captain, before tearing his ACL in the final seconds of the last regular season game. He was named 3rd-team all-MAAC. He finished his MBA while recovering from the ACL injury.

In March of 2023, Gaines signed a professional contract with the Newcastle Falcons in Australia's NBL1. It appears that the NBL1 is a 70 team semi-professional league that occasionally provides players to the Australian NBL, their top league. (Dererk Pardon is averaging 12 ppg and 8 rpg in the NBL this season). Gaines and the Newcastle Falcons play about one game a week. Anthony turns 25 next month.

I stumbled on some NBL games on YouTube TV late at night this season and it was pretty fun, the crowds were big and the broadcast quality was high. I saw Dererk’s New Zealand team a couple times, they ended up losing in the league final series and he was second team all-league.
