And Bowl Season Begins - Go Redhawks!

I didn’t realize until I saw this article listing all of the bowl games but there are over 40 bowl games now.

“Check out this article from USA TODAY:

Which college football bowl games are worth watching? We ranked them by watchability.

Of interest: the Celebration Bowl pits winners of HBCU conferences, the SWAC and the MEAC. Payout is $1 million per conference.

While Jackson State is 12-0, and leading at the half, they’ve chosen to play the Celebration Bowl versus participating in the FCS playoffs. This is because the Celebration is a profitable enterprise for the schools, while the playoffs are not.

In the FCS playoffs, universities bid for the right to host home games, and the low-bidders travel. This, it turns out, is why the Dakota schools host the playoffs every year until the final, when they travel to Frisco, Texas, for the title game.

Cheering for the Montana State Bobcats against South Dakota State today. If the Bobcats beat SDSU, as they did last year in the playoffs, it’s on to the national championship game again. No guarantees but I think this MSU team just might win its first national championship since 1984.

Did not know that, I thought it was a home-field advantage thing like in the NFL. That has to be pretty expensive if you go through multiple rounds of the playoff.

NCCU beat Jackson State to win the Celebration Bowl, and the HBCU National Championship.

41-34 in OT.

On 3rd and goal, JSU had a wide open backup tight end, no doubt the palest player on the field, and he stone cold dropped it. The hum in the crowd was palpable. JSU was a mess on fourth and goal.

Well, I missed that one. Hats off to the Jackrabbits. They whipped the Bobcats on a bitter cold day.
