No Illinois in championship game (and let's face it, Purdue is as benign and unhateable as anyone in the West) plus yet another atrocious loss that.... if anything ever will... might help foment change.... is about as good as a long-term result as we could have hoped for today.

Was frustratingly thinking the same thing.

In the alternate reality Fitz goes to the mic and points out that, "we lost bad to the West Division Champs" as the 2022 swan song. I'm just so fed up with him saying/doing everything/anything but the right thing...and now I/we can only hope this blowout leaves him defenseless to his critics, who are many.

You really have to try hard to squander all the goodwill and equity Pat Fitzgerald has with the Northwestern community...but congratulations buddy...you have pulled it off.

I agree if this putrid loss helps effect change. Only other result I didn’t like today was Minny over Wisky. Just don’t care for Fleck and the Gophers but squeaking by Wisky’s worst team in 15-20 years and being .500 vs Wisky (also in their most declining period since Alvarez) will probably get Fleck a huge extension, sad as those standards are.
