Another Reason to Hate ND

I've been a season ticket holder for 20+ years, and my business partner graduated from Notre Dame. We thought it would be a good idea to have a party for the ND@NU game this November. Starting in February, I called NU ticket office to inquire about getting a block of 50-100 tickets. Here's what I found out:

1) Our stadium has no suites to accommodate groups of any size. (I knew this, but it still sucks).

2) The Randy Walker terrace is available for most games, including Michigan, but not for ND. It has been reserved for the administration (and presumably our Board of Trustees). They wouldn't even quote a price/donation that would make it work.

3) NU is not selling ANY tickets for that game. When I pushed hard, I found out

(a) NU Season Ticket Sales are up - good news
(b) NU has committed so many tickets to ND that there are virtually no seats left - presumably a decision made so that ND would book the two-game series with us
(c) Maybe, at some point, NU will allow season ticket holders to purchase 1 or 2 additional tickets per person, not per seat. So if you have 4 season tickets, you couldn't buy 4-8 more tickets, only 1-2 more. And it's questionable that these will even be available, as ND will probably sell out their allotment.

SO WILDCAT FANS...

We scheduled a game knowing we had to give away most of the seats to ND fans. I'm pretty pissed I can't get more tickets and show-off our beloved alma mater. But if you were Fitz or Phillips, would you have made the same decision? Does the exposure to playing ND outweigh the fact that we gave up so many tickets? Is it good we're playing at Ryan Field? Would you have rather played at Soldier Field? Are there longer term consequences to shutting out NU fans from the game?
