Any word on Tap's ankle?

He was on crutches. He had a big ice wrap on the outside of his right ankle. Who knows how an ankle will respond.

Collins said post-game that he rolled it, tried to give it a go during halftime in the practice facility, but the trainers said he was not fit to play. They're going to do more tests today to check it out.

As a physician who sees a lot of these things, ankles take a long time to heal. I'll be happy if he's back by BTT, though whether he'll be at full strength will be difficult.

The ranks are dangerously thin. Tap can stretch a D, and I don't think we can replace that. Sanjay, our Swiss Army knife, will probably be called upon. Is it possible that Benson and Pardon get on the floor at the same time? That would be a weird look, and probably one that might require zone defense, though Pardon moves pretty well.

Though he's a role player, having a healthy Tap is critical. First, the other two potential Taps (Rapolas and Falzon) are injured for the year. Second, we need his fouls. Third, we need him to spell Sanjay/Law. Fourth, we'll miss his shooting.
Without Tap, I really worry about our guys getting gassed down the stretch. And what's really scary is that if we happen to lose one more player to injury, then we are in full-on panic mode.

W/o Falzon and Rap, need Tap.

While the word seems to be not a serious sprain, this is the same ankle that has been giving Tap problems...

we could also go in the other direction and go without a center for short stretches. give ash some more minutes. the "no center" look seemed to be in vogue a few years ago . . . I think I recall at least one team (Mizzou?) had a fairly successful season while starting 2 forwards and 3 guards. this might also necessitate some sort of a zone, though.

I should note that this would certainly NOT be something to try vs Purdue, haha.

All true. We had been basically playing without him for a week or so and in the first half Sunday, it seemed he was back and moving much better. That move on the baseline showed what he can do healthy and could be a very valuable piece. Also helps his defense. Unfortunately this sets him back at least a couple weeks as we go through the gauntlet. Got to feel for the guy.
