With a current world rank of 77, it would seem unlikely based upon recent performance levels (T27 last week at Wentworth, with MC prior event at TPC) that Luke will get into the U.S. Open via that method. He has a 7:10 tee time next Monday at Kinsale CC, one of the courses in the Columbus, Ohio sectional qualifier. That sectional historically provides for the most Open qualifiers based upon the quality of the field -- the vast majority of the non-qualifiers who are playing at the Memorial this week play in that sectional. It would appear that returning to Coach Goss has resulted in a measure of improvement in Luke's game, particularly a return to form with respect to his short game. Although I don't have any information about the two courses hosting the Sectional, since they're in Columbus, I'd guess that they are older, parkland-type layouts, which will probably be set up very difficult -- the type of course that Luke could have success on.
Young Mr. Wu from the current Wildcat team, got thru the local qualifier at Village Links, but I can't seem to find his name or tee time in any of the Sectional events.
