Collins went off immediately after Iowa set a screen for Sandfort out at the 3 point arc and Nicholson switched and tried to block Sandfort's shot.
Sandfort's follow thru on his right hand (after the ball was gone) made incidental fingertip contact with Nicholson's fingertips.
The shot was unaffected and swished.
Sandfort falls to the floor in agony.
Foul called on Nicholson.
Blatant flop not called on Sandfort.
Collins explodes.
Bingo. It was so ridiculous that it was comical.
if it didn't involve Chris Street, those announcers weren't saying much.
Jess Settles kept saying everything was a judgment call, and his judgment was that Iowa never fouled and always got fouled.

This is yet another example of how bad the flop rule is. If no flop rule, then maybe no technical, and then maybe we win.
The flop rule needs to be modified. The problem is that officials were told it's a point of emphasis, meaning if you want to work the big games you're going to have to call it all the time.
Falling to the floor on a 3 isn't necessarily a flop. If someone closes out hard on you, it might be the best way to ensure you don't land hard on their foot and twist your ankle.
I thought it might be something like that but was not sure. The only time I remember him going off like that was the Technical he got against Gonzaga. Other thought was he thought it was a moving screen and the combination was just too much.
Tell that to Berry who has gotten called for it a number of times
Players are still flopping because the math is still too much in their favor. If they get rewarded with a 3-point flop, that balances out three flop calls. Maybe they should award TWO technical fts instead of one for a flop call for a real disincentive.
