Naperville (Ill.) Matea Valley junior tackle Bryce Effner reports getting interest from NU and attending a practice in this update from EdgyTim. However, reading this ticks me off:
"Growing up I always loved watching the schools in the South since football seemed to be such a huge deal. I'm looking at a school that offers great academics along with a great overall level of play and I'd say that Vanderbilt is the type of school I've always wanted to play for in college."
Vanderbilt!? Come on. If you want to play in the South, shoot for a big-time school like Bama or LSU or Georgia or...hell, pretty much any of them. But if you want a combination of academics and athletics, NU is better than Vandy at both and is right in your own backyard.
