Really, really empty. Pretty cold. Great day for football.

Missed Howard due family obligation, but my crew was here.

Only game this empty was the frozen Ellet game against Minny in 2016 or17.

Go Cats.

It was literally the most empty I can remember since we played SIU at home in 2008 in a total downpour.

I have two subsequent comments:

1. The crowd actually got reasonably loud for its size when it needed to...

2. If any players are actually reading this...I'm truly very sorry there isn't a huge Northwestern fan base to root you on through the good and the bad...but that also means you don't have a bunch of half-assed t-shirt fans booing you when times get tough. There might not be many of us, but we're always here for you. Also, I really really love the special teams "milk the cow" celebration.

The few fans that were there we’re pretty spirited. I admit I felt sorry for the players that the crowd was so small. After that first drive, I pictured 1000 people might be left for the 4th. There couldn’t have been more than a hundred students not counting the band. Maryland probably had the smallest visitor crowd I have ever seen for a B1G game.

The Northwestern students I met at a game (admittedly a small sample) were from other countries and seemed to attend the game out of a sense of school spirit and not a deep interest in football. NU simply doesn’t have that large local fan base you have at land grant universities. But I’m preaching to the choir here…
