The Athletic did their final 2023 football rankings.
They have NU at number 31.
Pretty amazing based upon the beginning of the season.
You can argue the number all you want, but the fact that any major media source has them ranked this high is quite an achievement.

Nice step up from the start in the bottom ten. The Athletic had them at 107 after the Rutgers loss.

Should we accept this ranking at face value or is our higher ranking a grain of salt? I just don't follow the PAC10.

Good information! It seems that some people maybe concerned that adding USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington to the Big Ten and then eventually to Northwestern's football schedule will make it more difficult for Northwestern. Based on the Athletic's rankings and what I saw both last Monday night and at the end of the Washington - Texas game, maybe at least three of those four teams should be concerned about the challenges presented by adding Northwestern to their schedule. (Looking forward to the September 21, 2024, game in Seattle!!)
