I've been a Wildcat b-ball lurker for decades - always hoping against reasonable expectations that NU would someday, anyday, get off the schneid regarding qualifying for the NCAA Tourney or at the very least pull themselves up from the bottom four of the B1G conference to punch their collective cards for getting to the Big Dance. So that magical season of exorcizing those demons of past somber b-ball seasons is finally upon us and our 'Cats.

But what is going on with the usual suspect Big Dogs of the B1G over the last 14 days, especially the last week? A red hot Moo U and Mich go down on the same night (Wednesday) and Wisky lays yet another egg last evening for a 5th "L" in their last 6 games in their train wreck end-of-season stretch run. WIth NU having crapped the bed against Ill-Annoy two games in a row and sticking their head in the sand in the final 3 minutes against the very beatable Indy Who-ZIts to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, I thought that NU's chance for a decent seeding in the B1G conference tourney was a fading dream. But nooooooooo... Every traditional powerhouse B1G b-ball team seems to be limping across their respective finish lines, giving NU yet another chance to rise from the ashheap of their own making regarding a pizz-poor seeding in the B1G tourney. With one more B1G game left, the round ball 'Cats stand solidly tied with Sparty for a 5th place seed a game behind a barely breathing Wisky. Since NU's "W" against the MadTown Drunkards two weeks ago, every B1G team facing the Drunkards have employed the exact defensive paradigm that Chris Collins and his coaching staff devised to stymie WIsky's scoring production - double down on Ethan Happ whenever he receives the bean in the low post and limit his quality looks at the hoop. And that strategy has worked remarkably well. Consequently, this weekend, Wisky faces a hungry, motivated Golden Rodent squad who are poised to employ this same Collins-conceived Happ-killer paradigm to secure another "W" flag and bury a good-as-dead Wisky team once and for all - to the benefit of the 'Cats.

WIth that eminent demise of Wisky at hand, Chris Collins' and his resurgent Purple troops have a gift-wrapped opportunity to remove another fetis albatross of B1G tourney frustration from their necks. Get that last damn "W" from the Perdue Broiler-Chickens this Sunday and snatch a top 4 seed in the B1G tourney. The brass ring is just sitting there for you, the 'Cats, to grab. C'Mon fellas... Time to rise to the challenge of going toe-to-toe with the #1 team in the B1G and close-out this halcyon season with a signature win.

Interesting that other Big Ten coaches are copying from NU. Hey that guy, Chris Collins can COACH & recruit.

Pretty sure that the strategy of doubling Happ in the post started the game before against Nebraska, when the Huskers lost by 1

From what I remember, Carmody refused to recruit. He would only go to a recruits home if he had something else goin on in the neighborhood. The infamous Doccatsfan was a big fan of Carmody but finally left the board when Collins became so successful. What kind of fan hopes that we lose?
