Lots of thoughts. Good night for flying. Just beat the team charter out. No surprise, anyone can beat this team lately... Anywho:

  1. Mac - was mac. Above average as usual for a game in Indiana and less assists. These end of clock possessions really blow. He forced too many, didn't pass yet was pretty darn good;
  2. Scott - what a stud in H1, even with a few misses. Played well at both ends. Then disappeared. Probably still getting wind back, but showed his game was still there;
  3. Law - time to piss off some folks. He is to me what Scottie was last year. I wonder if his shooting reflects the shoulder injuries. (Remember, I openly wondered if he would really bounce back to old form...well...). Anyway, really hard to have him and lump on the floor together. They bring little O. If this carries into next year, I hope RI gets a chance to surplant him at the 3;
  4. Lump - typical low O. But neither him nor Law shut anyone down tonight;
  5. Pardon - got jobbed on the makeup call, was not getting the calls, and was pretty aggressive. Now, can some teach him, and the rest of the crew, how to find a body and box out. Defensive glass blew tonight. Big time.
  6. The refs blew tonight. Big time.
  7. Bensen needs some girth and muscle
  8. Brown needs to play better D
  9. Skelly - not his night
  10. Tap - needs to be on the bench to end games.
Indiana was not good. We turned it over, failed to own the D glass and could not hit a jumper. I would like to see less of lump and law playing together. Play skelly or tap with law and move Scottie over and run brown at the two when lump is on the floor. The scoring droughts are beyond maddening.

Otherwise, the Hoosiers were great hosts, though the super homer behind was seemingly watching a different game. Yogis had great food and was a brisk walk. Lara enjoyed her second stadium adventure. And I enjoyed an unremarkable flight home. Now time to sit and read...

Collins essentially stated that Law was banged up in the press conference (he said "everybody" was "banged up" right after discussing Law). Makes sense, as we saw Bryant's productivity drop early in the conference slate when he was clearly banged up.

Law's shoulder surgery was to his LEFT shoulder, he shoots with his RIGHT hand......

Balance, my friend. You set the jump shot with both hands and arms extended engaging many muscles including ones from both shoulders. Go outside and try hitting some Js without using your off hand. If he has lingering tendinitis or other pain from the two shoulder injuries that we know of, it will impact his jumpers, and free throws, less than his ability to drive.

He usually skies to rebound with one hand and secures with the second on descent.

I'm not saying I'm right, but it is a better thought than he simply is a variation of lump, limited in his O skill. Maybe he gets it back next year with more therapy or strengthing or whatever. Regardless, I rather not endure another two years of heart and soul argument if we have a viable two way alternative available.

The puzzling thing is that Law's offense looked great in Jan. That was just my eyeballs not his stats so I guess I could be wrong about that. Q: when one player is diagnosed with mono they test the whole team, right? Because to me Vic has looked tired, and weaker - not unlike Scottie did a couple games before he was diagnosed.

Last night's finish was ridiculous-I thought that this team was past those types of losses. But as long as the team stays healthy I think we will win one of the next 2 and one in the Tournament.

As I stated before, it appears that Law is injured; not enough to not play, but enough to affect him, just like BMac;s injury affected him earlier in the season To address your point directly, the injury would have occurred in February.

I recall one ref-blown-call when the (biggest?) IU guy just trampled our guy underneath the basket, got the basket and a foul. Incredible bad call. And I think Mac got fouled his last shot, which was not called and a game decider.

Woulda been nice to have had Lumpkin in the game the final play.

Considering the health of our team, the game looked even, but big time basketball is played in the final seconds, and NU just couldn't close it out.

Time to flush this one and get healthy for UM. Expect another cliff hanger. Hope for our better health.

I just really want a piece of Illinois in the conference tournament.
