That was always the plan when they signed TS. Poles had tried to trade Foles and his lousy contract before the draft, but could not find any takers. He did Foles a favor by releasing him now so he has more time to find a new team. The Bears eat $7.7M in dead money (only $1M cash), but do gain a bit of cap space.
