This is shaping up to be a big recruiting weekend for Northwestern.
The Wildcats, in their second week of “spring” practice, will host four major Chicago area 2018 targets for overnight visits:
- Four-star DE Devin O’Rourke of Frankfort Lincoln Way East
- Three-star OL Wyatt Blake of Crystal Lake Central
- Three-star SB Brian Kaiser of Winnetka New Trier
- Three-star OL Charlie Schmidt of Libertyville
All four will spend Friday night in a dorm with a host player and then watch practice on Saturday.
O'Rourke, ranked as the No. 2 player in Illinois and No. 216 in the nation, is the bluest chip of the bunch, with nine Big Ten offers among his 13 total to date. All four players visited Northwestern multiple times previously.
In addition to that quartet, three-star DB Greg Newsome of Carol Stream Glenbard North said that he will likely visit Northwestern the following weekend (March 10-11), although he added that his schedule could change. Four-star LB Jack Sanborn of Lake Zurich said he may visit this spring and that NU is "a school I have an eye on."
SB Charlie Mangieri of Dunlap took his overnight visit to NU last weekend. With Quincy Patterson and Micah Jones already committed to Va Tech and Notre Dame, respectively, that represents all of the Wildcats' 2018 offered prospects from Illinois.
