Great win tonight Cats....
As a Purdue fan I really appreciate you winning this game for us. I told people weeks ago that Wisconsin had benefited from a backloaded schedule and this only proves my point. Very happy for your program as this should be the signature win to break through to the NCAA Tournament this year. I really like your coach and will be cheering you on except when playing Purdue. Btw... How in the world was Purdue not in the first 4 seeds on CBS on Saturday? There is no way that there are 16 teams better than Purdue. I've been a fan since '84 and this is by far the best all-around team we've ever had. I think this team is Final Four quality without a doubt. I'd like an opposing fanbase's opinion...

Thanks, but I will more than welcome the outcome projected by another poster on your board that predicted Purdue would beat us on the road - which you did- and we would end up beating Purdue at home. Stay tuned.

It is because the Committee still uses a ridiculous measure (RPI) to seed. No worries, you'll be in the top 16 next week....

Purdue is in great position to win the conference now. Favored by KenPom to finish the season 6-0. The last one in Evanston should be a fantastic game and probably ends up on CBS.

I hope it does...what an atmosphere especially if Wisconsin losses twice. It could be for the Big 10 Championship

That was me.

I'm not so quick to give us 6-0 to wrap up the year. We've lost to Minnesota, Nebraska, and Iowa already. If you gave me 5-1 right now I'd take it.

I wouldn't consider this Purdue team to be nearly as good as the 2010 team before the Hummel injury. That was the only time in my life that I felt we were as good as anyone and better than most. We were actually poised to rise to #1 in the country when that happened (were #3 and I think #1 and #2 lost that week).

I made the prediction of the home/home split before I knew Lindsey was out. I would still give the edge to Northwestern in Evanston assuming he is back. Even if he isn't, you've proven you can beat a good team without him. That game will be a good one and have huge implications for either or both of us.

Especially if that one loss is to us.

Tc I strongly disagree. I think we were on the precipice of greatness that year, but I don't think we were as balanced as this squad. I think even if you check the analitics of each team, this one is just better overall. That starting lineup was very good, but this team has 6/7 very good 3 point shooters and a much better inside/out game.

I don't really care about balance. I know that the way that team was playing when Hummel went down, I'd have put money on us against anyone on a neutral court. Again, that team was poised to be #1 in the country when the injury happened. This team is struggling to get a top 4 seed. I'm not going to sit back and pretend we're some kind of juggernaut when we have losses to Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska on our resume. Right now I'm just hoping we can look back at the end of this season and proclaim that this team was significantly better than last year.

I think PU is better than their record, and UW not quite as good......

Yeah... not sure about that. We aren't Indiana and we play all contenders well. We get bored with the trash...luckily you are legit.

As a visitor to our board, you probably don't realize how ironic it is for you to say "you are legit" to wrassler, though we know you are referring to NU and not to him directly.

I'm sure every team is taking NU seriously since Wisconsin if they weren't already. Every game will be tough going forward but this year's Cats are the real deal and hopefully still has an outside shot at winning the conference. We'll know better after tonight's game.

Man that 2010 Purdue team was pretty awesome. With Hummel, Moore and Johnson you pretty much guaranteed that at least two guys were gonna be on fire at any game. Robbie's injury, and again the next year iirc, sucked for him and the Boilers.

I have no problem admitting that I don't care about the Big Ten title. I want to get into the NCAAs. Period. However that happens.

Winning the Big Ten obviously means we are in the tournament. I know that technically only the winner of the BTT has a guaranteed spot, but to win the regular season the Cats will have to win out (and of course Wiskey dropping at least 2 more games), which would put the Cats at 25-6, 14-4 Big Ten.

Set your sights higher. The Tourney is a done deal. We can win the BT. We really can. Probably won't. But it's not impossible and if we do, it really won't shock anybody who actually knows basketball.

No such thing as a done deal until I hear them read our name. I've been an NU fan for too long.

Know what you mean, TheC. I had a nightmare one time. In it, we had won a huge game versus Michigan State with a late scoring flurry. As the teams were leaving the court, the refs were over at the scorers’ table in a discussion. Turned out they were checking the game clock speed using stop watches and concluded it had been running a tick slow all night. They decided to put the teams back on the court, put two minutes on the clock, and we got beat.

The psychology of a Northwestern fan would probably be a fascinating study.
