To : Rock Mavens
I'm new to posting on the
boards and don't understand how board governance works. If I understand it,
there is an "ignore" function that allows you to ignore certain
posters that annoy you.
However, for those who are not board denizens, but may occasionally visit the free board for insight and information ( for example, recruits and their parents ), they are
unlikely to recognize what is merely the usual carping from the usual posters
vs what is fair comment and worthy debate.
So, my question is : who ultimately decides whether to give a malcontent, bilious poster a
time out ? Is it a single person ( ie Lou V ) or a board patrol group? And can this person ( or group representative ) provide a brief synopsis as to where the line exists for acceptable vs unacceptable posts? When does constant, public negativity --regardless of the motivation--about NU's sports programs cause a poster to go into the sinbin for a while--or be permanently
banned ( yes, they can change handles, so this may be ineffective, but it
sends a signal ) ?
There may be a good case study for this on the free board right now.
BTW, for me, when players are repeatedly and publicly denigrated, the line has been crossed.
Thanks,
