Boo Interview

Was nice of the interviewer to not mention the likely biggest reason for Boo's return...

We’ve gotten accustomed to vicious cycles in NU basketball. This is a virtuous cycle! Unexpected success, fueling unprecedented fan support, fueling more success, convincing NIL donors to step up, convincing a key to the success to stay, also citing the unprecedented fan support…

When it’s packed and the students are there, it’s a huge difference and a great venue for college basketball
In a way football can never ever be - and I dearly love college football far more than basketball - NU basketball could be a unique, incredible environment that's nasty for visitors with a prestigious stage.

I'd keep an open mind about the possibility for the new stadium......could be a loud, mainly NU crowd.
It could definitely be a great improvement and a fun atmosphere, but we’re still a little school and we can pack out 8,000 much easier while putting 1,200 insane students right on the floor on a way that football can’t replicate. In basketball we have nationally elite atmosphere upside IMO. Tiny and claustrophobic is a fun atmosphere for basketball that the larger arenas at big schools lose.

It was a lot more fun having Welsh Ryan full and my row being full of fellow NU fans versus the typical sellout with a row full of Hoosier or probably my least favorite- Iowa fans.

I agree - sounds a lot like why Duke can be elite at Basketball but not FB. I've always found it strange that we ended the futility in football before we did in basketball, because with Bball you can change everything with just a handful of players and a relatively small number of rabid fans. Its like we have done it the hard way.

WR is already a great environment. As for football, you apparently missed the Rose Bowl season and the subsequent buzz that followed for 3-4 years. The new RF will be a lot louder and packed. Fitz just has to get the excitement back into the program after these last two years. It's all about winning.

Yeah the new RF can do exactly what renovated WR did.

But just as we saw with hoops, the key is to put together a great season that fans (and most importantly students) rally to...

First 4 seasons of renovated WR were nothing like what we saw a few months ago in Feb.

Renovated WR and the new RF set us up for success as long as we see a good product on the floor/field. The moment we have a good football team in the new RF, the stadium will sound as good as renovated WR did this season as basketball broke through. Hopefully Fitz can have a good team ready to go in the first year.
