BREAKING: 3-star S Ty Hudkins is NU's second commit of the day

Solid add. In the transfer portal era, loading up on 3 stars is fine. Any player can leave at any time so depth matters. NU will lose fewer players to off the field and academic issues, so NU can take more 5.5 stars than other programs. As long as NU gets a class loaded with 3 stars NU can compete. Need to keep selling that Elite degree to Grad transfers. There aren now two recruiting seasons.. with the Portal beinh the second. NU can more there.

Very good addition to the secondary, gotta love that 4.5 speed.

Would really love to see Ty go to work recruiting his HS teammate, 2025 LB Max Richardson. Really good looking prospect who pulled the trigger real early and committed to Stanford. No NU offer yet but I am pretty sure we will offer. Hopefully Ty can get him to reconsider.

That’s a weird situation. He didn’t have a ton of early offers, went to Stanford to earn a camp offer and committed shortly thereafter. Absent us having an extremely good on-field result this year, I don’t see why the kid would ever flip on Stanford.

Easy. Same reason we have landed other prospects from the Midwest over Stanford. Closer to home and playing in the Big Ten where your friends and family can watch you play on TV every week. Having a HS teammate at NU shouldn’t hurt. Of course, NU having a good season on the field this year would also be really helpful.

Huh, I live in the Grand Rapids area and haven’t heard much about these guys from Forest Hills Central. I’ll have to pay closer attention this fall. Our last QB recruit from the GR area was Jason Whitaker, who obviously didn’t work out.

Let us know what you think. Love Grand Rapids. Stay at the JW and have a nice steak at The Chop House whenever I am in town on business.

Have him speak with Jamir Benjamin. Also from Michigan.
