I know some people here were touting Brian Gregory as a better choice than Chris Collins (the experience factor, I believe), but watching today's game vs. BC I was not impressed. First, the team doesn't have anyone that can hit a three point shot, so why with a three point lead and seven minutes left are they cranking up three of them (all misses) to let BC stay in a game where they were woefully outrebounded. Second, then they proceed to blow a six point lead in the final 1:30. I know they beat us earlier but if we'd have zoned them, that outcome would have been different. Live and learn. Meanwhile, Gregory who has one winning season, barely, in four years for a school that had been to the Final Four twice since the 90s, is on the HOT SEAT.

I think that that might have been Gregory's last game at GT. They had a bunch of close losses this year, but the bottom line is that they went 3-15 in the ACC in his fourth year. That's not gonna cut it, especially following Hewitt, who got the Jackets into the tournament five times and to the NCAA Final once before getting axed.

I know Hdhntr was a big Gregory fan, but he touted him as a Carmody replacement, not necessarily as an alternative to Collins. He took the GT job two years before Collins was hired at NU.

Actually, they've only been to 1 final four since the 90s. The other was in 1989-90. The 90s don't start until 1991.

The famous "very reliable source" told me Rick Taylor and Shon Morris were advocating for Gregory. Then Bienen stepped in and made the call to Carmody.

I've read for a while this was a hot-seat year for Gregory. That's too bad. It looks like he's one of those coaches who max'd out at the mid-major level. He had a nice run at Dayton.

Perhaps he will return home and lead the Huskies to glory, or maybe he'll join Chicago's B1G Team as an assistant?

You're getting confused with the "21st century" / "new millennium" arguments. "The 1990s" describes a period of 10 years that start with "199_," including 1990.

You are probably correct...Now, shouldn't the OP have said: "gone to the F4 twice SINCE1990"....as opposed to "SINCE the 90's"?

In my limited understanding, a specific point in time as opposed to a range or period more idiomatically follows "SINCE" (when used as a preposition)...for example, "since yesterday", "since 10am", "since the year 2001", etc...OTOH, "IN the ´90's" would be idiomatically appropriate (but factually incorrect in this particularly example).

Yes, "since the '90s" would imply "since 2000" or thereabouts.
