Interesting tidbit from Skip as the Cats conclude their training camp:

SURVIVORS: During a full season, the 'Cats will run approximately 800 team reps. During just this fall camp, they ran around 500. But despite that heavy load, they suffered no soft-tissue injuries. "Not one, and that's a first," Fitzgerald said.

"That goes back to the way they prepared in the off-season," he then explained. "Their hydration and preparation for practice, they're taking it very seriously. We've tweaked a lot of things from that standpoint. I mean, we're spending 15 minutes prior to practice everyday with a whole new level of warmup-- well, we did it a little in the past, but now it's mandatory. All those things are positive."

Nice to see that the Cats are as healthy as they have been in years entering Week 1 of the regular season!

I find it pretty fascinating the new level of attention that goes into preparation for games and the season as a whole. To think that teams used to just do some stretching and go out there and play. During practices, going to get water was often seen as a sign of weakness. I really appreciate this level of focus on this often overlooked part of the game. Not only does it help a team from a competitive standpoint, but it also makes the game safer as a whole.
