Seconded.
Many, many, many points is definitely the optimum result but 1 will do.Seconded.
Not, like, literal kill, just, like, beat by many many many points.
I will be pleasantly surprised if NU wins Tuesday in Champaign.
Option 1 would murder our SOS.Many, many, many points is definitely the optimum result but 1 will do.
I could not care less about the margin of victory against the Illini- just win the game! I have a better feeling about our chances against Illini away for some strange reason. We seem to play better away this year(other than the Iowa game). If we do lose against them, they might play Sinatra's "Chicago, Chicago, that's my kind of town...." on the speakers in the arena. The Illini are genuine miscreants with no class whatsoever. If there is one game that I'd most like to win left on the schedule- THIS IS IT. Groce is a weaselly infidel and I hope that he gets fired at the end of the season. I'd be willing to bet that AD Whittman will try to bring in Bulls' coach Hoiberg in his place. Really? Lovie and Fred- two former Chicago pro sports coaches? True desperation to find meaning in the squalor of farm animal excrement that is effusive and flowing in Cham/Urbana. That would be just pathetic and an exercise in futility for them. Iowa State is better off without Hoiberg- didn't they beat Kansas this year? I hope when they fire Groce, they bring in another bigger loser and they get even worse. MHO.
Groce does have a quality class coming in next year, that being said Illinois basketball is a relic, not a blue blood and really not that much to differentiate itself from a lot of schools - a top coach would not leave to go to Illinois, they are going to need to find an up and comer who hopefully for them has ties to the school, otherwise he'll be the next bill self or Lon Krueger and move onSimilar to Crean at IU, I hope Groce stays at Illinois for years and years... no way they build a program with sustained success with his uncontrollable hysteria on the sidelines. I don't want to recruit or play against an Illinois team for the next decade if they end up with a guy like Greg Marshall or Tony Bennett
I think our team will be pretty jacked up for this one too though. I can't imagine they enjoyed losing to our in-state rival at home. Getting a chance to even the score has to have everyone pretty excited, especially Scottie who had to watch the first one from the bench. Would think BMac's parents might make the trip across to Champaign, plus Vic Scottie Tap and the other IL kids on the roster. Not to mention the obvious conference seeding and NCAA tourney implications which are there for every B1G game, but are becoming more proximate by the day.The ONLY thing that has me worried about this game is that I believe that Groce has somehow conned his players into believing that, if they beat us, they save his job.
Nothing could be further from the truth, imo (Groce is absolute toast), but we see what a team with the proper motivation did to us the first time around. They have literally not played at the level they played us in nearly a month and a half of action, and that includes the two victories over Iowa (Iowa has been playing like the team we destroyed in a lot of games....). In their last three home games, they have absolutely mailed it in. Hope they weren't conserving energy just for us....

I truly laugh at this board. NW has never, ever been anything on the BB court. They can only dream to have half the tradition of Illini BB. This is NW's best team in a long while in a year the B1G is crappy and you are still struggling with confidence and starting to feel the sphincter pucker a bit. Champaign has more class on it's vast campus than Evanston ever will and more Alums in Chicago than NW ever will. Face it you are an academic school fighting for sports legitimacy. The jealousy reeks of purple smegma. Illini BB will be back and NW BB will go back to its hole when Duke boy goes home. Other than that good luck tonight!

First off NU. Second I'm not an alum or student just a fan at college age. So me saying this is pretty on par with memory of recruits I can't really recall a time a Illinois has been super relevant in either basketball or football in my life. Sure I get the whole Chicago basketball talent thing but wait Illinois isn't chicagos big ten team. Illinois program doesn't seem to be on an upward trend. But chicagos big ten team sure seems that way. They could finish 4th in the big ten. They're most likely going to be even better next year. "Duke boy" if he goes back which I don't think will be for a while yet is building a prettt solid foundation with some assistant coaches I have a lot respect for. So go cats!I truly laugh at this board. NW has never, ever been anything on the BB court. They can only dream to have half the tradition of Illini BB. Impressive - reminds me of a poor mans version of the football program in south bend - or something like Marquette or DePaul. I guess groce just needs to hone in on recruits who care more about what happened 20+ years ago than what they've witnessed in their lifetimes. Hasn't worked so far, I'm sure the next coach though will bring back the glory days.NW = NU. Civil post so appreciated. Just information to consider:
Here's some salient facts. I didn't assemble them but did link the source.
14th all time in the NCAA in wins (#12 in winning percentage)
#15 (tied) all time in NCAA bids (tied for 2nd in the B1G)
#22 all time in NCAA Tournament wins (famously most wins for a team without a title)
#14 (tied) all time in Final Fours (tied for ninth-most number of Final Fours)
#10 all time in collective AP poll appearances (including: #14 [tied] in weeks at #1, #15 in the top 5, #10 [tied] in the top 10)
2nd all-time in B1G conference wins (4th in winning percentage, though Maryland has a gaudy .722 after just 3 seasons)
5th highest number of B1G conference titles
Most B1G Tournament wins (tied) all time (2nd highest [tied] number of championship game appearances, 4th highest [tied] number of titles)
Have winning records against every B1G program except Purdue, Indiana, and Michigan State
Tied for #20 all time in number of McDonald's All-Americans

This is, by definition, what I mean when I am quoted whereas the Illini have no class whatsoever. Good game last night though, my good friend.
