Virginia Tech won their ACC opener and -- surprise!-- their opponent was not Boston College, so that means it was a good win for them (OT over NCState). DePaul has failed to capitalize on their momentum from the GW win, however, losing to G-Town and the Hall.

And that 1-9 Loyola MD team that played us well for a half has won its first two Patriot League games, though the Patriot league is terrible this year, imo.

That's a nice win for Va. Tech who lost one of their key players (for the year?) due to an injury. DePaul had a chance to send game at Seton Hall to overtime with one second left when Billy Garrett jr. was fouled on a three point shot, but he blew the first free throw.

Kinda embarassed that we lost to the #5 team when Va. Tech beats the #4 team. But we would have beaten Virginia the way they played; if not for one kid hitting 7 3s the game would not have been close.

So 2 non-cons that we beat on the road have now taken down top 25 teams. That has to help a bit.

This is what gets me so pissed off with people evaluating our non-conference schedule before the conference season has even begun. It makes no sense at all. Because Virginia Tech was bad last year, they are assumed to be bad this year. It doesn't work that way in college. It was pretty clear they had some talented players.

Yep, and one of Tech's starters against us, Chris Clarke, has been sidelined with a foot injury the last couple of games. Loyola of Baltimore is off to a 2-0 start in their league as well and Fairfield has climbed above .500. With reference to the latter two, many teams in the smaller conferences overschedule to get experience because overall records don't mean as much for them because to get in the NCAA TOURNEY, they just have to win their league. One team that we played has kind of underachieved so far this year and that is Columbia. I was really impressed with their size and skill and while they are 9-6 going into the Ivy League, they've had a couple of bad losses.
