Ask Jeremy Larkin if he has any recruiting news and his three-word response says it all.

“None at all,” he texts.

Nothing has changed for the three-star running back from Cincinnati (Ohio) LaSalle in months. He still has the same Top 2 of Northwestern and Cincinnati, he doesn’t know when he’s going to make a final decision, and he doesn’t have any other visits planned.

If recruiting was a football game, Larkin’s is currently in a timeout.

The No. 5 all-purpose back in the country has been a top target for Northwestern since October, when the Wildcats became the first program to offer him after a visit. He says Northwestern is still the school recruiting him the hardest and that he talks to Wildcat coaches “very often.” His recruiters are running backs coach Matt MacPherson and linebackers coach Randy Bates.

Larkin has told WildcatReport several times in the past that he likes Northwestern for its academics, offensive system, coaching staff and Big Ten football. He also has two close friends playing for Northwestern -- cornerback and Cincinnati native Keith Watkins II is a family friend and 2015 signee Jordan Thompson is a teammate at 2014 Ohio state champion LaSalle.

The one area where the Wildcats can’t compare to Cincinnati is location. The Bearcats play in Larkin’s hometown, so family and friends could easily see him play every week.

While recruiting is at a standstill, Larkin did participate in a Rivals Camp Series event on April 26 in Cleveland, where he was named a top offensive performer.

Rivals Midwest recruiting analyst Josh Hemholdt wrote, “Larkin rushed for 2,584 yards and 38 touchdowns as a junior, but we were not sure how well his skills would translate over to a camp setting because he excels on the field with a patient, bruising running style. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Larkin answered those questions early, gliding through position drills and showing great speed and change of direction. He is a natural pass-catcher and had a field day during the one-on-one session. The No. 5 all-purpose back in 2016 continues to be one of the more under-offered prospects in the Midwest.”

At this point, Larkin says he doesn’t really have a plan for making a final decision. He has visited Northwestern twice and Cincinnati once, and he may go back to UC again at some point this summer.

When asked if he thinks any other schools might offer or whether he is confident that he will commit to one of those two schools, he responded “I’m not sure on either just yet.”
