CBS's Jerry Palm From after the Purdue Game - NU to Buffalo as an 8 seed

What do you suppose it'd take to move up to a #7 (thus avoiding a #1 seed in our second game)? Might two wins in DC do it - especially since Maryland is practically on their home floor?

It seems like that would probably do it.

If we want to have a reasonable chance at the second weekend, it's much better to be in the 7/10 game than the 8/9 game. Even though 10s have about a 40% chance of winning in the first round, of the 60 that did win their first game, 27 went to the Sweet 16. By contrast, only 7 No. 9s and 16 No. 8s have made it to the Sweet 16 because of having to pay a top seed in the second round. So either side of a 7/10 game is probably preferable to an 8/9 game.

I'm guessing we'd have to play on Sunday, because if we lose to Wisconsin, doesn't that cancel out the win over Maryland?
