Absolutely no way Bergin makes any NFL roster. Is there no tape of him getting smoked by MSUs tailbacks or run over each week by even MAC school ball carriers? Imagine poor Chris against Derek Henry. If Paddy Fisher (who I highly regard) is practice squad material in the NFL then Bergin has no business even entering the Bear's parking lot.Yes. Great news. New regime, coaching staff with a young head guy who highly values hustle/effort guys, especially on D and special teams.... pretty smart move for Chris. Joe Jones made it in the league as a special teams ace... Steve Tasker did... go for it, Kid! Shake a leg!

Frankly, Bergin should never have started as a B1G linebacker. Yes, he led in tackles but key stat...Most yards AFTER contact. He was a human doormat.
Oh no. I better call my therapist about an opinion from someone I didn't know. I am so sorry that I don't blow unicorn dust on fans of a player who had no business being a B1G starter. And you're a human jackass. Thanks for the illuminating contribution, Mr. Positivity.
(You're right, but we don't need to say it out loud. He was a good kid, so let him have his day.)Oh no. I better call my therapist about an opinion from someone I didn't know. I am so sorry that I don't blow unicorn dust on fans of a player who had no business being a B1G starter.
Okay, here is happy time for you. The same LB that a Wisconsin freshmen RB dominated will (in the span of 8 months) now be ready to play at an elite NFL level against Dalvin Cook, Derrick Henry, & All-Pro NFL linemen.
Bergin WON'T be on any NFL roster this fall.
Right! the kid was a walk-on and did a great job. He didn't ask to be the best player on a terrible defense.(You're right, but we don't need to say it out loud. He was a good kid, so let him have his day.)

Would love to see Chris Bergin prove all the know-it-all experts here wrong. The bitterness and vitriol thrown at Bergin by the fake NU fans is just wrong and uncalled for.
Wasn’t listed among the six tryout players the Bears signed to contracts today after last weekend’s rookie minicamp.Wow! Hope he makes it!

yeah, ryanfield gets a little extreme. I get criticism of the university, the program and, especially, the coaches, but I don't like to beat on specific players. Sometimes they frustrate me - certain players that have five years with the program and simply cannot perform, for instance. In the end, I remember the wisdom of possibly the worst boss I ever had, a real toad, who once said to us managers: "If our team doesn't meet their goals it is because we (management team) have failed them". As Fitz likes to say, to deflect, "it's on us, as coaches". Yes, Fitz, it is on you all as coaches. If you recruited a guy and coached him for five years and he doesn't perform, you either a) recruited the wrong guy b) failed to properly coach and develop him and/or c) failed to recruit or develop someone behind him to beat him out, at, say, kicker or linebacker.Putting down a walkon who led the team in tackles as a "human doormat"? Chris has strapped it on and performed well in many arenas, but being a loyal NU fan, you're compelled to trash his dream of playing NFL ball. OKaaay.

Imagine how they’dBergin signs with Bears.
NFL Material?
Board gives mixed reviews
We want to wish wellImagine how they’d
react if McIntyre
got the call instead
This latest thread development is NU AF btwWe want to wish well
But also want to be right
Ah, the Internet
Not exactly a frog jumping and the sound of water, but I appreciate the effort. There once was a player named Bergin
Whose talents few coaches believed in
But as a Wildcat he thrived
Which prompted the Bears to give him a try
Before he went on to become a top surgeon
Not exactly a frog jumping and the sound of water, but I appreciate the effort.
I endeavor to persevereHungry, what's wrong with you? Did you forget again when you got up this morning to request permission to think from His Majesty?
One can always aspire toward self betterment.I endeavor to persevere
It’s not about being “sunshine”, the guy is Just stating the facts, and quite accurately. You must not have watched any games last season, or if you did you don’t know much about football. And you're a human jagbag. Thanks for the illuminating contribution, Mr. Sunshine.
Dude none of the comments about Bergin (or any other player) are personal or bitter. I’m sure he’s a wonderful young man, but this is a football board and the discussions are about FOOTBALL. Anyone who watched any NU football knows the kid is not a big ten level linebacker, is undersized and overall played very poorly, especially last season. It’s not “vitriol” it’s just the freaking truth!Would love to see Chris Bergin prove all the know-it-all experts here wrong. Uh he was a Big Ten level linebacker for 4 seasons, starting on two division champions. So you're wrong.Dude none of the comments about Bergin (or any other player) are personal or bitter. Agreed and he should have some company. LouV, time to TAKE OUT THE TRASH.How that troll still hasn’t been banned is incredible to me.
In the role the #3 LB on the team, he was pretty superlative. Hard to complain.Uh he was a Big Ten level linebacker for 4 seasons, starting on two division champions. So you're wrong.
