Coach Baldwin got his first victory over a DI with a beat down of Iowa State , in Ames ,,74-56. Makes me wonder what his responsibilities were on the staff and also who replaced him? Think he is going to do well there....Also makes me wonder if we are going to recruit his son

He has two years to lift Milwaukee into a top 45 team. If he does that, another, more established school will grab the two Baldwins.

PB just had his 3 best players leave Milwaukee today and has had 3 out of 4 top recruits decommit lately. He's lost 9 players since he arrived.

Sorry, he's not cut out to be a head coach. He's a second assistant at D1 at best.

My worry as a Cat fan is PB is canned before PB2 graduates high school and follows his dad to a Power 5 school where he is on staff.

It's an absolute disaster at my Milwaukee right now.

Why is PB "not cut out to be a head coach"? It seems the players who are transferring are looking to play for high majors. But reading between the lines, they do seem to have something against PB, or else don't believe he will stick around. Kind of puzzling.

First year head coach has significant roster turnover? Not exactly "news."

I'd cast it a little different....

* PB was the third UWM coach in three years and even though there had been an exodus two years prior, he kept the roster in tact;
* The team did pretty well, considering, with good wins over Iowa State and Loyola Chicago;
* Yes, three players asked to transfer. One graduated and would like to play up a level, another said he wants to play up a level, and the third was disappointed in playing time;
* He got a 4* guard transfer from Illinois and a 4* small forward commitment who signed his LOI;
* Can't speak to high school kids who committed and then changed their minds.

Sounds like PB is making guys play by his rules.

This disappoints me. Reduces the chances we'll get PBII.

I was at the game in Milwaukee and even though LU was missing their top two guards.I remember thinking this team is well coached....UMW did some really nifty stuff and looked well coached even though I would not consider any of their players outstanding. They were below .500 in the Horizon League and only Bell made 2nd team HL....none of those other players were even able to make 3rd team in the Horizon League. Starting to bring in some players he knows he needs to compete. My guess is that the first two guys that left were pushed out...and the other three were like here we go again..all these new players coming in etc. after all the turmoil. Never easy to start from the bottom..Time will tell if Coach Baldwin can coach at DI...my money is on Coach Baldwin.......and still want to know what his responsibilities were at NU

4 days after beating Iowa State, Milwaukee lost to Concordia-St Paul 69-55.

Concordia-St Paul lost that same week to Arkansas Tech by 20. Concordia-St Paul finished 5-24.

Hope you guys are right on PB, but those of us closer to the situation have our doubts.

I would have felt a little better if the players transferred before playing a year for PB than after.

Milwaukee is in the running for Te'Jon Lucas (Illinois transfer) but so are four other schools.

The 4* commit from MN is Shae Mitchell. I'll be pleasantly surprised if he ever steps foot on campus again . I have a feeling he'll be playing against NU twice next year.

Milwaukee beat Loyola without two of their best players.

Milwaukee is desperate for any players. They have at least 25 offers out there. Yikes. Milwaukee latest commit chose UWM over Rogers State and East Central among other powerhouses.

Go Cats!

It's also not exactly news for players on their third coach in three years either.

This message board gives a little better idea of some of the events surrounding Baldwin and the recent history of the program.

Baldwin is certainly not blameless. According to one story on the board, he was no angel. But you might want to take a closer look at your program before you run off the first-year coach who improved the program by four games under those circumstances.

So dumb question . . . it's obviously well outside the norm - I get that. But is it completely out of the question that PB, if it doesn't work out in Milwaukee, returns to Collins' staff? I don't know what went on over there, but he always seemed like a class guy to me. He'd also be coming back with a different perspective; possibly not as anxious to jump into the fire where head coaches reside (in addition to perhaps not being quite as hot a commodity as he was seen to be when he left). Just wild speculation, of course. I don't know PB's ultimate aspirations, but if he WERE to come back home, it might be with a renewed appreciation for the fact that the grass isn't always greener elsewhere. Just seems to me that this is where he belongs.

Yeah that XMas story was pretty crazy because he didn’t seem that type at NU at all. If true (and it’s been mentioned on twitter too) he’s just not a good fit for HC in 2018.

If it doesn’t work out at UWM, hopefully he ends up back here...with his kid to boot.

That would be a huge career decision. Basically acknowledging the Peter Principle at least for a number of years. I can't see it happening but I don't know the man or the real story behind all this. IMO he would be better off to stick it out as long as they let him.

I hope we're right as well. It would be nice to see UWM become a force under Baldwin. What's happening is a bit more common today....Bradley...Evansville...Pittsburgh. It happens. Wish UWM the best.

I remembered reading that Lucas committed....is that not correct?
