I can't believe what I'm reading on these boards. Here we are, going into the stretch run of a miraculous, dream season, and there are all kinds of posts about who was right, who was wrong, who supported Collins, who didn't, who posted what three years ago.

WHO CARES? Let's enjoy the ride!

After five straight losing seasons, the basketball gods sent us this team. They won TWELVE freaking Big Ten games. They finished second -- SECOND! -- in the Big Ten. They beat the No. 1 team in the country. They gave us the greatest week in NU basketball history. They turned Welsh-Ryan from a mausoleum into a madhouse. They sewed up an NCAA Tournament bid almost a month ago. They have the Big Ten Coach of the Year. The Defensive Player of the Year. The Assistant Coach of the Year. A first-team All-Big Ten point guard. They are tough as nails.

This has been an incredible season, the basketball version of the 1995 Rose Bowl team. We may never see another season like this one as long as we live. Let's come together, put the petty squabbles behind us and enjoy these next couple -- few? -- weeks. This team has earned our support. We should be one, big, happy Purple Family.

Go Cats!

I stand with Lou. 😁

I’m just happy to have a season worth watching, a team to be excited about and a board alive with discussion. Beats the heck of the current state of affairs on the other board and this place last year.

I thought they would be in a battle for last place. They did seem different in the preseason, but each B1G win was an unexpected surprise. I started a new job last summer and had to endure a lot of ribbing during FB season for wearing purple. Now I am emblazoned in layers of purple. Really happy for the kids and the staff.

Are you saying you didn't enjoy our four 2-16 B1G seasons when we were at NU?

Lou, I agree the season has been a great and unexpected pleasure. I am really looking forward to the next few weeks, and hope the Cats acquit themselves well in both tournaments.
One truly unexpected highlight of the year, to me, has been watching Coach Collins morph from a source of frustration to a source of inspiration. I think this is really the first year that I have seen him coach the players he has instead of the players he would like to have. I think he has genuinely remade his coaching philosophy, and I admire him for his willingness to do so. Regardless of the recruits or transfers in the pipeline, I think we are on the brink of a new successful era of Wildcat basketball.

Not surprisingly we're still being disrespected, albeit in a minor way. On the intro song/ video for the tournament they show every team at least twice; the only time they show Northwestern is the back of Buie's uniform the one the students design so you would not even know that Northwestern is represented in this tournament.

Also this

Our fanbase is always going to be like this; even though I've engaged in those threads, I also do feel that it's a bit silly to be debating decisions of the past year (or so) when the team is a 2 seed in the BTT and a likely 6 or 7 seed in the NCAAT.

This is an amazing place to be as a fan without a doubt looking forward to some incredible games.

They kind of need to win the next one, Friday,

Looks about right. Only Purdue, Indiana and Maryland are above NU. And, Michigag is below NU, That alone is a compliment. That said, it means nothing.
Also Michigan State is above. And Iowa and ILL are about the same.

Let's be realistic. Had we lost the last game to Rutgers, we are a 9 seed. But..we didn't! How cool is that?

Weird league this year. Only one standout, and then 11 teams within 3 games of each other

1. Love I’m on Ignore so he can’t read my posts…
2. I goofed - March 20
3. Mock me - but it’s a thing. I’m sure Lou, or Cappy if he his briefed in, will share with you since you seem to enjoy special privileges around here.
4. After another meeting this morning, there is renewed hope that March 20 thingy won’t be a thing - but that would not be a good thingy for you ;)

This post seems to be in English, but I don't understand a word of it. Did you mean this in response to a different post?

We can always IGNORE those posters. In fact, I'm going to ignore "We may never see another season like this one as long as we live."
Except one reason it has been so magical is that we have had so few. So if it becomes a more regular event, it won't be as magical. That is a good thing, right?

We had 95 in FB. And we have had other success since, but has anything really equally 95? We had 2016/17 and now we have this season in BB. Both were magical. But as we have more consistent success, it is not the "once in a lifetime" experience

Yeah, I was getting bored with all the bowl games. /S

Every great season is "special" in its own way, but there will never be another 1995, nor another 2017. Even if NU wins a national championship, it still won't be as special as 1995 was.

Not sure. 95 and 16/17 were unique because of a 'first time' effect, but, as I've learned in my 43 years following NU athletics, if they were to even win the BTT, I'd put that on par with the 95 Rose Bowl. Winning the B1G bball regular season, ir BTT against 13 other teams is damned tough.

Except the Final four games are not played in the Rose Bowl.

Sorry Lou, but for some people the ride to a second place finish has been tantamount to being duct-taped into the back seat of a school bus full of screaming 7 year olds listening to Taylor Swift while being driven down 20 miles of unmaintained county road. Such is the human condition.

I think nearly everybody is happy, but plenty of pettiness on display in those seeking retribution for who knows what little insults. Thankful that it isn't my human condition.
