They just released Mike Daniels. By pretty much all measures Lowry played better than him last year and this deal averages out to less than Daniels was supposed to make this year. I think it’s a good move.

Interestingly in reading Packer fans responses they seem to be pretty high on Tyler Lancaster too. He’s in the last year of his deal so let’s see if he is next in line

Quick clarification. Lancaster was a rookie last year. NFL teams pretty much control the rights of all rookies for at least their first 4 years. While Lancaster’s contract is up after next season, I believe he will be an exclusive rights fee agent which means the Packers have no competition for his services. He won’t have the same negotiating leverage as Lowry did until he approaches or completes his 4th season in the NFL.

I wouldn't be surprised if he started the season on the practice squad and gets promoted once injuries inevitably hit.

He won’t make it to the practice squad based on his play last year. They’ll keep him on the 53 or they’ll lose him.

He was due $2m in 2019. I’d guess at least that much is guaranteed. Otherwise he wouldn’t sign the deal.

Credit where it's due GCG - you absolutely called this one. We all knew he was playing well from watching, but I admit I didn't think he would get this much (granted with only $6M guaranteed I imagine it would be cheap for GB to part ways after this season if they want to).

I don't think we should let this go by underappreciated... teams rarely give a contract like this to mid-round interior 3-4 DL picks a year before their rookie control is up. I mean obviously there are exceptions, but this is a strong vote of confidence - even more so when combined with the fact that they dumped Daniels. Clear ordering of preference and value.

Way to go Dean!! Making all us Wildcat fans proud, we are following and cheering for you.
