Demand for Trevor Increasing on Eve of draft

Kind of a pleasant surprise, but it does suggest that the flashes of brilliance we saw may have been the real Trevor afterall. Not sure exactly what was off the last couple of seasons, probably what people said about a weak OL, a woefully underperfoming WR corp, plus of course the injuries. One wonders what might have been had he been healthy and protected, and if his receivers didn't drop so many balls especially last year.

It could turn into a game of chicken for Trevor. Will be interesting to see it unfold.

From the article it looks like the Denver Broncos have shown the most interest. Anyone with inside knowledge better know their needs and how Trevor might fit in there?

Apparently the Broncos have a pick at #59 that is going to be used to get a quarterback who, once drafted, will have at least a year to get ready to play and it looks like Trevor could get that spot depending on who else is still available. Here is a quote from a Denver source:

Now the names that continue to be mentioned to the Denver Broncos are Baylor's Bryce Petty, CSU's Garrett Grayson, CSU-Pueblo's Chris Bonner, and Northwestern's Trevor Siemian.

My guess is that If Grayson or Petty are still available at #59 they will get that slot but nice to see Trevor in the running even if he gets selected in a lower round.

As much as I wish it were true, there is just no way Trevor gets picked in the second round. I think it is more likely that these teams are jockeying for positioning to sign him as an undrafted free agent. Maybe one of them pulls the trigger in the 6th or 7th round if they think he won't sign with them as a freee agent. Ultimately, I think fit is critical for Trevor so he may be better off being an UDFA and picking the team where he has the best chance to succeed.

By the way, I am willing to bet that either Grayson or Petty (maybe both) will be there come pick 59.

Looking at the projections I was surprised to see how few quarterbacks are being projected to be selected in the first two rounds once you get past the number one and number two picks. It looks like you are correct that even Grayson may well still be available at #59 despite what the above linked article implied.

Did someone here or anywhere suggest this? That's crazy talk. This is a weak QB class and teams would be foolish not to scout a kid who started at a major program for 3 years, but he is not getting drafted. Maybe someone picks him up in round 7.

ODDS ARE INCREASING THAT TREVOR WILL BE A BRONCO TOMORROW!

So much for Denver grabbing a quarterback at #92 in the 3rd Round, much less #59 in the 2nd Round. Instead they used Friday to get an Offensive Lineman and another Tight End. (Apparently the team is already loaded with Tight Ends.) Perhaps they gambled that they could get Garrett Grayson for their Quarterback in the 3rd Round, but if he was their man he was taken by the Saints at #75. Petty and Siemian now await to see which them gets the nod. Unless Denver trades up their next chance is at #133 in the 4th Round followed by #164 in the 5th, #203 in the 6th or any of three slots in the 7th Round. With Petty being touted as one of the best picks left untaken it will be interesting if he is still there for the Denver Broncos tomorrow when they get to exercise their 4th Round pick at #133.

My guess is (barring a trade up to grab Petty) Siemian will become a Bronco tomorrow. This would be a great spot for Trevor regardless of whether the selection is in the 5th, 6th, or 7th Round. IMHO Denver is not going to wait for the Free Agent Route to get Siemian (assuming they have not already secured Petty) with their having three 7th Round picks to waste along with the fact that both the Bears and the Browns remain contenders for Trevor based on prior contacts that went beyond phone calls and could exercise late round picks as well.

Very interesting. I also have a feeling the Broncos will draft Trevor.

DaCat = Thanks for joining my bandwagon of one from yesterday. I was so confident of the pick I just took a nap and woke up to confirm that Trevor indeed became a Bronco today. Congratulations to all those from NU who now have an opportunity to play at the next level.
