If you were surprised to hear that quarterback Deuce Wallace had committed to Northwestern on Saturday, you're not alone. It came as a surprise to Wallace himself.

Surprise! ($)

I have been disappointed with our results on the field for the past two years, but this article and the young man's perceptions of our program make be proud to be a Wildcat fan.

Also, McCall's influence here may provide some insight into Fitz's decision to keep the staff together.

Yes, and Dennis Springer and Matt McPherson were our best recruiters last year according to 247Sports.

it don't mean a thing, if you aint' got that RING, doo-wop doo-wop doo-wop doo-wop doo-wop

As the sting of last year recedes, my enthusiasm for the program is returning, but these guys (staff) have to start showing results.

More insights into Wallace's decision from a story in the Knoxville paper. I think the key part was him realizing that as a QB you have to make a decision fairly early because most schools only take one per class. I think this commitment will stick.
