While I am almost certain that NU partnered with Stubhub for football by integrating the barcodes to make a few more bucks on blocked rows or section, such things are normal and an opportunity to increase ticket revenue. Likewise, there are blocked sections at W/R for Basketball. Rows 1 in section 107 and 108 appear to be blocked and selling on SH in allotments of 16 seats. Again, no problem and good for them.
But in regards to a Championship game, we already know the sections of NU's allotment. It will be interesting to see if there are large blocks of tickets 12-20 ticket blocks up for sale on SH. Because, if that happens for the championship game, then I think it is wrong. Wrong because it appears that not all STH got their seats. The same STH who supported NU with the purchase of a Season Ticket each year. Even this year, a NU ticket doesn't have much value for most games. You can't give them away except for the value of the Michigan game and Notre Dame game. The Wisconsin game was probably slight below face value. So, why would someone be a season ticket holder if they are not given presales opportunity to complete their order?
I mean, with the secondary market, it would make better sense not to buy season tickets and then just pick and choose where you want to sit from the secondary market. Go look at the Illinois game. You can sit on the 50 for $8 bucks. Why lock in with season tickets 9 months before the game and pay $55 for the same ticket? UNLESS there are benefits.
Why pay $5,000 for 2 lower bowl sideline seats for an awful OOC Basketball schedule when you can just pick and choose which game you want to see and buy a ticket for a game you want to go to, sit in the best section, for $75? The only reason is to support the school, otherwise, the price is monstrously inflated.
If a donor who is first in line allows 4,000 students to cut in line ahead of those who supported the program, then what is the worth of a season ticket?
If big blocks of tickets start popping up on Stubhub in the NU 'allotted section' then the obvious has happened and all of those season ticket holders who were left out and told "Tuffa Lucka" will have valid gripes. Hopefully, when NU said it "Sold out" its allotment, it's not the same definition of "Sold out" for W/R.
If so, then I hope NU reconsiders and starts filling orders from STH who weren't accommodated.
