Not buying or selling here yet, but NU put a lot of effort into Martinez, Mullings, Jenkins, Bruener, Raikes etc with limited backup offers in play. Getting guys like this is the difference between a very good class and a great class. Misses are going to be more frequent when you increase the talent levels of the targets, but NU seemed to back off hard on guys that were perceived to be plan B guys. NU has 40+ less offers in 2020 than 2019.

I may be “misremembering”, but I can’t remember NU slow recruiting so many players that had offers before they filled the positional slots. Guys with multiple P5 offers that from all indications had legitimate interest. There are other prospects where NU recruited and either didn’t offer or was very late to the game. Ethan Wright to Duke, Deontae Craig, Lance Keneley, Devin Hightower to MSU, Jordan Turner to Wisconsin, and Dorian Mausi, all guys we offered or seemed on the verge of offering that NU seemed to cool on. Connor McLaughlin and Trapilo were OL that got caught in a numbers game. Might regret not keeping McLaughlin warm with a best available offer.

So what gives here. Is NU banking on late flips like Brandon Joseph? Is NU confident in uncovering a late bloomer like Evan Hull? Does NU come in with a late offer and snare someone like Malik Washington?
