I have it on good authority that Doug and CC are actually "sleazy" people and are bad for NU.
2011 is being sarcastic, Levine. He's making fun of the obsessed haters on Twitter...
I think CC is really capable and competent and doing a really nice job but his dad is a real plus. You gotta know that relationships are important in recruiting and BB in general and Doug Collins has made no secret of the fact that he is there for his son in this stage of life. I'm almost surprised that he can be as involved as he is with out getting in the way some how. Two pretty big personalities and a dad always has at least a few buttons he presses on a son even when not intentional.
I'm not saying that if CC has great success it's because of his dad but it's not hurting much.
I blocked him long ago. He provides some good insight from time to time, but seems to truly find the worst in every situation. I really don't know why he continues to post about NU as he seems to dislike so much about it. I just couldn't take him anymore. That and his liberal drivel.

As Doug Collins is the guy responsible for the Sixers trading to get Andrew Bynum and the guy who refused to play / traded Nik Vucevic and led them to the Sam Hinkie Era ...... I guess I can't respond to this in an unbiased way at all.
But I do like CHRIS Collins.
I suppose Doug has hurt some feeings along the way but he seems to have he respect of a lot of people too.

Since there is so much confusion as to what Coach Collins is doing, let me break it down for those who have wasted our time the past week:
He is doing what head basketball coaches in power conferences do and what any coach who is earning his million dollar plus paycheck is supposed to do. He is looking to improve his roster through recruiting talented freshmen and aggressively going after possible transfers. He is losing a SG who was the focal point of the offense in Tre Demps. He knows that Lindsey, Law, Brown, Ash will have to step up, but he thinks that Canyon Berry could step in right away and provide some offense. He sees that the Illinois Player of the Year Charlie Moore de-commits from Memphis and he knows that there is void (possibly since I. Brown is arriving in Evanston this fall and might be able to fill that void) for a secondary ball handler and shot creator and he gets on the phone with Moore soon after he finds out about his de-commitment.
Unlike the prior regime where Fred Van Vleet's dad wants his son to go to an Illinois school (with his 3.7 GPA) and sends his dvd to NU and they do not even give him a call to try him out. Van Vleet goes to Wichita State and leads Wichita State to a Final 4 his freshman year, an undefeated regular season his soph. year, Sweet 16 appearance his junior year and a victory over Kansas which is a pretty good basketball school last time I checked and advances a couple of rounds into the NCAA tournament his senior season and becomes Wichita State's best point guard of all-time.
Now as for the argument about freshmen not contributing much. So what. Now that Collins has established a talented nucleus of players in his first three recruiting classes where he does not need freshmen to come in and dominate the team and average 15 ppg, 6 apg. And yes, Shurna's freshman stats are not far from Falzon's freshman stats. So that issue is irrelevant and who knows Charlie Moore can choose another school that is courting him like UW and won't necessarily wind up committing to NU. Also, NU has a difficult shot to get Canyon Berry to commit with Florida, Miami and Kansas and others interested in Berry. So all these posts might be moot or irrelevant.

It was discussed in an earlier thread. It shouldn't surprise anyone though. There is the Kaminsky story, the Vic Law Dad's testimony, the coach of Whitney Young story. This would be par for the course for Comedy..
Never thought about the totality of all the stories.
Allow me to add a summer shot of the five, pre-Hardy years to the list of recruiting brilliance. I like to look at those years as Billy C's internship to big-time basketball. No wasted time there.
I guess that's why NU gave him 10 years or whatever it was to get nowhere. The first 5 were considered an internship. Now it all makes sense (well, no it doesn't, but at least I understand now the illogic of the madness).
The truly sad thing is that the stories above happened post-Hardy and Hill. Makes you wonder how bad it was during the internship years.
And crazy that he was named Big Ten Coach of the Year and led the team to its first non-losing B1G conference record since the 1960s during his 4th season in those "internship years."
