I like the strategy of taking a local kid as a developmental prospect (much like Lausch) late in the cycle, as it helps build bridges to the local recruiting area, and if the kid does pan out, there’s a great local hero story to build recognition for “Chicago’s Big Ten Team.” We’ve had Kustok, Basanez, Kafka and Thorson. They were all highly rated and not so much “developmental” prospects but it would be great to have another QB1 success story from Chicagoland.
