He is absolutely right. Nothing to indicate NU is on the same level as dOSU.
So somebody seriously thought they were? This is certainly no great insight, but Stephen A. Smith does love to hear himself talk.
They aren't the best team in the country. The Patriots and Seahawks and maybe the Bears are better.

Alabama does not have the talent tOSU has. Could they beat the Buckeyes? Sure, anyone can be beaten but the Buckeyes will be favored should that game happen.
Biggest enemy for the Buckeyes will be complacency as there doesn't appear to be much super about the rest of the B1G East this year. Penn State and Michigan are still nothing close to what they've been in past years. We'll know more about Michigan State after seeing what they do against Oregon.
Good point. Will be interesting to see how Urban keeps them up when they will be favored by double digits in almost every game. He has created quite a machine in Columbus, all the more remarkable when all the pundits say the best talent is in the south: Texas, Florida, and other SEC bastions. How Urban gets kids to play in the snow belt is quite a testimony to him and his staff.
Why do you keep on insisting that for the BIG to be strong, MICH and PSU have to be strong? At this point MSU has taken MICH place and WIS has done well over the last 15 or so years. Others can step up as well. I will grant you that if no other teams had stepped forward, the weakening of PSU and MICH you might have a point And as long as the BIG has the defending national champion, and top team in the country, the BIG will be seen as strong enough. And with improvement in Minny and NU, and potentially others, the BIG will be fine with or without Mich and PSU returning to their former glory.
100% agree. I am tired of hearing that the B1G needs Mich and PSU to be good. Nobody in the SEC is complaining that MSU is good whilst Tenn has sucked canal water for a decade and Florida for half that. Who cares WHO the good teams are? For the conference to be taken seriously, it needs 2 teams in contention for the playoffs (we have) and several very competitive teams, let's say "ranked" for discussion purposes. Nobody cares who they are except the fans of those schools.
The implication is obvious - that the "other schools" like NU, MN, MD (if applicable) cannot sustain success. Perhaps not, but IMHO, the conference appears stronger, top to bottom, if programs like ours achieve success, even at the expense of the brontosaurus schools. It is better than BIG 4 little 10, eh?
