I got a chance to trade a few texts with Northwestern 2018 cornerback commit Ethan Bonner last night about his Stanford offer. As you know, it's pretty rare for an NU commit to tweet about getting an offer from another school, and Stanford is a program that has landed several NU targets in the past.
The bottom line: Bonner told me that he is 100-percent committed to NU and basically told Stanford the same thing. Cardinal coaches want him to come to their camp, but he declined the offer.
Bonner immediately talked to Coach Fitz and Coach Bates after receiving the offer. They apparently OK'd his tweeting about it.
Stanford has been recruiting several NU commits in Texas, it seems, as coaches visited Jacob Jefferson and Payne He'bert during the May evaluation period. Their answer was the same as Bonner's: thanks, but no thanks.
