Does anyone know if we're going to play an exhibition game this season? I'm not talking about the 'super secret' game against Marquette, but an actual open-to-the-public exhibition game. Last season we played Illinois-Springfield on November 4th and opened the regular season November 11th. I was assuming a similar schedule this season, but November is almost here. I'm pretty excited about tonight's scrimmage, but I think I need an exhibition game to hold me over until the Loyola(MD) game.

The schedule doesn't show one, which suggests to me there isn't going to be one. Teams can play two "super secret" scrimmages in lieu of an exhibition game under the rules, perhaps NU is having another closed scrimmage instead.

Several teams are getting passes from the NCAA to play last-minute exhibition games with the money going to hurricane relief organizations.

Marquette vs. Baldwin's Panthers
Notre Dame vs. The Holy Carmodys
Kansas vs. Missouri
Houston vs. Baylor
Georgia State vs. Hardy's Jackets
Mississippi St vs. Nebraska ...

... and many, many more.

I'd pay to see NU play Kentucky in United Center.....

If it's going to happen, it would have to happen soon.

I remember watching NU beat Kentucky at McGaw when I was a freshman.

Perhaps there is a rule that we can't play an exhibition since we're playing a D-II school (Lewis) during the regular season)?

Especially when the team is trying to adjust to a new home court venue. Seems to me the more "game like" opportunities the more comfortable the team will be when it counts.

Agreed! Going back a few years...10 or 15...we had a season with no exhibition games and started the regular season miserably (think we had a bad loss).

Chris Collins wasn't the coach then. If you think NU will lose to Loyola or St. Peters because they didn't play an exhibition game, then NU is in for a loooooong B1G season.......

I'm not worried in the least.

Perhaps not. But an exhibition only helps..

I was watching football today and saw a commercial for some show (an ice show, possibly) at AllState Arena the first weekend of November. So maybe we're not playing an open exhibition due to the arena not being available (the Wolves season has started too). I'd say get Quincy or Wheaton up here and play at ETHS, but that's just me.

No, that is a regular-season game. It goes in the record books that way and occupies one of our allowed regular-season games in the schedule. It just doesn't count towards our RPI (it won't hurt our RPI even if we lose!). Perhaps it is better to play a D-II school than to play an RPI-killing D-I bottom-dweller.

Maybe I missed somebody posting this, but in addition to the scrimmage against Marquette 10/28, I read that we have another against Loyola 11/2.
