Fitz will have his weekly press conference at noon today, where he will release the two-deep and announce injury updates, among other things. WR will have Larry Watts and Philip Straus there covering it, and Philip will be live tweeting. Here's his Twitter page so you can follow along. (If you're on Twitter, give him a follow if you haven't done so yet.)

@PhilipStraus

If Mogus is out why is he on the depth chart that Philip Straus posted there on the link?

Great perspective:

"Gibson on the team's October struggles: You understand your past, but you've got to flush it"

Fitz said Mogus was out today. You'll notice that all seven players that left the field with injuries on Saturday night are on the two-deep today. Even Kyle Queiro, who reportedly broke his arm vs. Ball State.

So what gives? Is this another step in keeping our opponents guessing? Seems like this two deep is less than reasonable.

Fitz doesn't really care about the two-deep and is under no requirement for 100% accuracy. It's all for the media's sake... and we know how Fitz feels about the media.

OK, but once the injury reports come out on Tuesdays is the two-deep depth chart adjusted and made available to the media?

That's fine, but what is the point to publishing one when they indicate one player is "out" and another had a broken arm, (in other words "out"), yet they are on the two deep. I get he likely could care less what the media gets but the whole process is a farce if we say one thing and publish something contradictory. Just don't publish is it is useless.

You don't lose your spot due to injury.

If Fitz thinks the two-deep is just for the media's sake, someone should correct that misperception for him. The two-deep reports are appreciated by the paying and donating fanbase. They are also a hedge against gamblers getting inside information that is not available to the public.

I know Fitz really doesn't care about this, but the NU injury report likely makes life hell for bookies.

Going to go ahead and guess that nobody has ever withheld a significant donation because of inaccurate weekly two-deeps.

Well, if the only reason the football program ever does anything for the fans is under the threat of withheld donations, then I guess your post has relevance. I like to think that the program wants the fans to feel like part of the "family", but maybe we're just a checkbook-sized annoyance.

Good grief, people! We're 4-0 and ranked #16 nationally, and THIS is the most important thing you have to talk about on here??? In more than 30 years of following Northwestern football, I can't even think of ONE time when an inaccuracy in the two-deep spoiled my enjoyment of a 'Cats game.

I respectfully suggest that some of y'all need to consider a way to find more fulfilling lives. Not only is this unbelievable, but it's why so many ardent NU fans think these message boards are a complete JOKE.

The ghost of Midvale is apparently still alive and well out there somewhere!

We can always revert to complaining about play calling, our fans engagement, lack of respect by the media, our starting QB, the relative strength of our opponents or pot holes.

Is it too much to ask as a dedicated fan that if the team we so feverishly support takes the time to issue a depth chart, they at least exclude guys with broken arms?

Maybe if you resign your self-appointed position as Deputy Head Coach, you will no longer have to concern yourself with such minutiae? I think it was Randy Walker to preached the importance of focusing only on those things within your control. Perhaps a depth chart is one of those things?

Take ten deep breaths, and see who shows up on the field this Saturday. BINGO, there's your depth chart! :) Anyway it works for me.

With Fitz it's all a deep, dark secret, even the pot holes.

I think he would like us to talk about drinking more Purple Koolaid. Cannot be having any discussions here...

Deputy Head Coach, good one Numb. I don't think I'll resign and a few more clever rebuttals like this and you might be considered for Assistant Deputy.

It's a message board. My suggestion is if the topic pains you or any other "ardent" fan you ignore it. I for one enjoy the discussion around strategy with replacement and what we may do to make up for a missing player. Doesn't mean I know anything or anyone else does for that matter, but it shouldn't inhibit conversation . If it still bothers you, feel free to continue your board police role on what is acceptable to comment on!
