Saturday night’s matchup with Nebraska was a marquee game on Northwestern’s schedule, and the Wildcats leveraged that atmosphere with its football recruiting visitors.

Let’s take a look at some of the visitors and news coming out of Evanston.

2017

There were a host of Wildcat commitments on hand, as well as one big official visitor: four-star cornerback Elijah Hicks.

The crowds of commitments included SB Trey Pugh (who was on his official visit), QB Andrew Marty, K Charlie Kuhbander, CB Cameron Ruiz, WR Jace James, DE Trevor Kent, DE Earnest Brown and S Austin Hiller.

Pugh, who called the visit "great" spent a lot of time with Hicks, trying to get the California corner to join him in Evanston next year. Kent said Hicks "seemed like he really liked it." (Our efforts to reach Hicks were unsuccessful. WildcatReport will talk to Pugh tonight.)

"Wish we could have gotten the win," said Kent via Twitter direct message. "That being said I absolutely loved my time there, I got to meet a few of the other commits in person for the first time which was really cool. And it was my first time going to a game, so I really enjoyed seeing the atmosphere and campus on game day."

Kent, you'll remember, was being recruited hard by Michigan after he committed to NU. He said he is still hearing from Jim Harbaugh's staff. "They still try and contact me but I don't respond or answer."

One more note about 2017: a source close to Jordan Genmark-Heath says that the three-star linebacker is most likely headed to Cal.

2018

With the 2017 class almost complete, Northwestern invited several of its prime junior targets to watch the Wildcats battle the Huskers, including:

- Four-star WR Micah Jones of Gurnee (Ill.) Warren

- Three-star QB Quincy Patterson of Chicago Solorio Academy

- RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. of Indianapolis Decatur Central, who tweeted that he picked up an offer:

- DE Brandon Derrow of Columbus St. Francis DeSales, who tweeted about his visit:

- OL Charlie Schmidt of Libertyville, who already has an offer, tweeted about his visit:

Three-star safety Dallas Craddeith of Florissant (Mo.) Hazelwood Central did not visit, but he picked up an offer from Northwestern this weekend:
