I'm going to miss an NU home game today. The reason is that I'm coaching my son's football team again this year and our game was moved to 3 pm today, so it's in direct conflict. Plus, I mean, it's Eastern Illinois, and if you were going to miss one game, this would be it.

But this may happen again this season. I have thought a lot about this. My son is in eighth grade, so this is my last chance to coach him before he moves on to high school and the "real" coaches take over. Plus, our team is 2-0 and has a chance to be special this year. The bottom line is that there will be many more seasons of NU football, but no more of me coaching him. I hope you can understand that.

Besides, I'll have Philip Straus and Larry Watts covering the game, so for WR Nation you won't miss a thing.

Go Cats! Go Broncos!

Quick scouting report on Louie's kid without ever having seen him play:

He's faster that the old man.

I'm sure my dad missed many games when his team was playing. Putting time with your son above watching your team is what parenting is all about.... And exactly the reason why I'm glad I don't have kids!!!! Nothing comes in the way of game day! Go Cats!

You got that right. He has played wide receiver, running back, corner and outside linebacker this season. His Dad never played a down without his hand on the ground.

You're being a good father Lou and in the end that is the right thing to do! Go Broncos!

No one will remember this game at Ryan Field in a few years, but that dad coached me to our third win of the season, and was there for me...THAT he'll remember forever. Way to go, Dad. Most important thing in the world is to be there. Go Broncos!!

Hand on the ground? How about butt?
